[Newcastle United](http://Newcastle United) fans climbed buildings and lamposts to get a glimpse of the Carabao Cup on the club's victory parade.
As the bus snaked down Gallowgate and on to Percy Street, some fans climbed lamposts while others climbed to the top of the Irish Centre to wave flags. Outside the STACK fans helped each other up to a power generator building to gain a good vantage point.
It left Howe - who had a huge mural flag unveiled in his honour - worried about the safety of his supporters. He said: ."I didn't know what to expect today. This is really incredible, absolutely mind-blowing.
"You've got people hanging from lampposts, out of buildings. I hope everyone's all right. The people have been absolutely brilliant.
"I can't thank everyone enough, from Newcastle, the way they've embraced me and my family and I'm glad to have given them some joy."
Howe was also taken aback by the sight of a huge banner of himself being unfurled down the front of the Sandman Signature hotel. Also reflecting on the scenes on the streets of Newcastle city centre, goalkeeper Nick Pope took time out to catch up with reporters and said: "You can't put it into words - it's unbelievably special.
"The fans [at Wembley] carried us so much, to be able to pay them back in the moment was amazing. On the day, we were magnificent and a much better team! But, to be here today and see all these faces, you really get to see what it means to everyone in the city."
The club confirmed an incredible 300,000 fans descended on the city for the celebrations - 150,000 fans lined the streets and the attendance of the Town Moor event, which ended in a Sela light show, was also 150,000.
