Graham Potter has been left frustrated in matches overseen by Tony Harrington in the past as official confirmed for Wolves v West Ham.

West Ham return to Premier League action on Tuesday night as Graham Potter’s side make the trip to Molineux to take on Vitor Pereira’s side.

Wolves sit just one place below the Hammers in 17th but there is an eight point gap that separates the two sides ahead of the top flight run-in. West Ham are a comfortable 17 points above the drop zone but will be keen to avoid the gap between themselves and the bottom four closing.

The Hammers go into the match looking for a response after conceding a 91st minute equaliser against Everton before the break and seeing two points snatched away from them at the death. Meanwhile, Wolves beat struggling Southampton 2-1 at St Mary’s Stadium last time out.

Premier League confirms Wolves v West Ham referee

The Premier League has confirmed the officials for the upcoming round of fixtures and it is Tony Harrington who is in charge at Molineux on Tuesday night. The referee has only overseen one West Ham fixture this season, which was the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in August.

The Hammers were awarded a penalty by Bankes in that fixture when Tomas Soucek was judged to have been fouled by Matty Cash. Lucas Paqueta converted the spot kick but West Ham were potentially lucky to have been awarded that decision.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp said: “He definitely gets a touch. This is what defenders are now going to have to realise, they have to get this right. It is not going to get overturned.

“The referee sees the tangle of legs, there is panic and he gives the decision but I don't think it's strong enough to be overturned with the new rules. Soucek isn't really complaining, they are fortunate, but this is the way it's going to be.”

Graham Potter left frustrated by Harrington decisions as Swansea City boss

However, current West Ham manager Graham Potter may not have such fond memories of Harrington with his frustrations going all the way back to his third managerial post at Swansea City in 2018.

The referee was in charge of the Swans’ match against Rotherham United, which the Welsh side lost 2-1. Ryan Manning scored twice from penalties in that match to complete a Rotherham United comeback.

Speaking after the game, Potter said: “I need to look at the penalties again. But the first one, the boy (Proctor) is offside to start with and there didn’t seem too much in the challenge from where I was.

“As for the second one, I can probably see why he’s given it. But the ball has been hit that hard so close to Leroy that it was a reaction to protect his face. I don’t think he’s made himself any bigger, which is the general rule.

“When the ball is flying towards your head at such close range, then I defy anybody to say they are not going to react the way Leroy did. The key question the referee has to decide is has he made himself any bigger. The referee obviously thought he did. That’s life.”
