Everton plan to raid neighbours Liverpool to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window as an update is shared on the future of Ben Doak.

The Toffees have transformed tremendously since David Moyes returned to Goodison Park, going from relegation fodder to a team on the rise in the Premier League.

The 61-year-old manager has more than steadied the ship since his sensational return, guiding the Merseyside club to a nine-game unbeaten run that has all-but secured their safety in the top flight.

This is Everton’s longest run without a loss since Ronald Koeman guided them to the same streak in 2017, and Moyes’ efforts are set to be rewarded with financial backing in the summer.

Everton ready to be active in summer transfer window

Everton are looking to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window in a bid to ensure they’re not back in the same relegation fight they have found themselves in during the past few seasons.

Moyes’ side are said to be readying a “sensational raid” for Doak, who is rated at £25million, in what would be a rare transfer between the two rivals.

Signing a wide man is high on the priority list for Everton this summer, and the 19-year-old had been identified as an option to make that happen.

Moyes is said to be a “huge fan” of Doak, and he believes that his pace and skills on the ball would suit his Everton side.

Doak would join an elite group by joining Everton

Transfers between the two Merseyside clubs are extremely rare due to the nature of the rivalry, with only a handful of players having made the short trip from Anfield to Goodison Park over the years.

Peter Beardsley and Gary Ablett are part of that elite group, and Doak could find himself joining that list if Moyes gets his way.

However, Everton are set to face competition in making this transfer happen, as it is believed that Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are also interested in Doak.

Liverpool would prefer the winger to sign for the Cherries this summer, but Doak is set to have a major say on his future, which could open the door for a move to Everton that would be sure to be the talk of Merseyside.
