Wesley Fofana issue and £30m man still has something to offer, what Enzo Maresca should have noticed at Chelsea in…

Despite losing to London rivals Arsenal just before the international break, March has been a pretty good month for Chelsea.

The Blues won their previous Premier League game against Leicester City and were able to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Conference League.

It is now going to be a big April for Chelsea, who begin the month with another London derby against rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

With that in mind, here are a couple of things that Enzo Maresca should have noticed in March and needs to bear in mind in April.

Wesley Fofana does not look entirely comfortable at right-back

In Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Leicester, Wesley Fofana started at right-back and had a pretty good game.

Fofana had the highest pass success rate in the Chelsea team that day and was not dribbled past once. However, when he came up against Arsenal, it was a very different story.

Maresca left the Frenchman at right-back despite having both Reece James and Malo Gusto available again, but it was a decision that backfired.

Fofana really struggled during the defeat to Arsenal and was probably fortunate not to have been sent off. Based on that display, he should not be playing at full-back going forward, especially if James and Gusto are both fit.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a useful player

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall‘s £30m move to Chelsea last summer has not worked out for the player. Heading into April, the former Leicester star has made just one start in the Premier League all season.

However, the midfielder has been a regular in the Conference League, playing the full 90 minutes of Chelsea’s second-leg win against Copenhagen in the round of 16.

Dewsbury-Hall grabbed the only goal of the night after some really nice footwork, showing what he can do when given an opportunity.

If Maresca had forgotten, he would have been reminded that Dewsbury-Hall does have something to offer. The Englishman will now be hoping for more chances in April, which, again, will be a big month for the Blues.
