Alan Myers drops new date for Everton's third Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium test event

Everton are preparing to leave Goodison Park for their new state-of-the-art stadium on the docks.

The Toffees only have four games left at Goodison Park until they leave for the 52,000-seater Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

Their final home game of the season against Southampton on the 18th of May is set to be an emotional occasion, with not a dry eye in the stands.

But, for the greater good of the club, Everton simply had to move on if they were to progress as a club, both on and off the pitch.

Everton’s new stadium could bank them an extra £40m in revenue every year, so clearly, it’ll allow them to spend much more freely in the transfer window.

Before the grand opening in August, the club must run test events at reduced capacities to obtain the relevant health and safety certificates.

And now, Everton insider Alan Myers has just dropped a new date for the third and final test event.

Final test event at Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium expected to be held in July

Everton held their first test event at the new stadium in February, with the under-18s playing host to Wigan Athletic.

10,000 supporters were in attendance that evening, and then a further 25,000 watched the under-21s earlier this month.

The third and final test event is now set to be held in July, according to Alan Myers, and it’ll likely be in front of an even bigger crowd.

There’s been no further confirmation on the exact date or who will be playing, but given that it’s now set for the summer, it could well be one of the first team’s pre-season friendlies.

New stadium will ease PSR issues

Everton’s gate revenue is set to increase dramatically next season and the Friedkin Group are looking to secure a £100m naming rights deal.

The American investors are seeking a deal worth £10m-a-year across a 10-year period, with Japanese car manufacturer Toyota mooted as a potential sponsor.

If that deal materialises, Everton’s PSR issues will certainly be a thing of the past and the club are expecting restrictions to be lifted at the end of the financial year in June.

So, it’s certainly looking bright on Merseyside ahead of Moyes’ first full season back at the club.
