Newcastle United's Alexander Isak is interviewed by Ant & Dec during the Carabao Cup trophy parade.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has sent a message following the Carabao Cup trophy parade.
It was a day to remember for all associated with Newcastle United as the club celebrated the Carabao Cup win with the city.
Almost two weeks after the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the final at Wembley Stadium, fans lined the streets around St James’ Park to get a glimpse of their heroes with the trophy. One of those heroes was Alexander Isak.
The striker scored what turned out to be the winning goal of the match when he netted Newcastle’s second at Wembley. That goal was his 23rd in 33 appearances in all competitions this season, it’s perhaps no surprise then that the vultures are circling ahead of the summer transfer window.
Talk around interest in Isak has been rife for months, but Newcastle will put up an almighty fight to keep hold of him. Winning silverware and the celebrations that follow will certainly help their cause.
In a social media post following the parade, Isak himself certainly made his feelings on the club and the fans clear. Taking to Instagram, he shared pictures and videos from the day, and wrote: “What a memorable day! Love you all!” along with black and white heart emojis.
The striker was at the centre of the celebrations, and reiterated his feelings as he spoke on stage at the Town Moor. "It’s impossible to describe this feeling,” he said.
“I scored a goal a minute earlier which was offside. My goal was probably the biggest of my career. Obviously, with it getting us the win in the end. It felt amazing.
“The support means the world to us. But it means more to see how much this means to the people. We’re so happy to give the city and the fans."
Isak and Newcastle don’t have too much longer to continue the celebrations with the team back in Premier League action next week. The team host Brentford at St James’ Park on Wednesday night as they look to finish the season in the Champions League positions - something that will also provide a boost to their hopes of keeping Isak beyond this campaign.
