Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne could be heading into his final couple of months at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgium international is out of contract on 30 June and is yet to agree a new deal with the Premier League champions.

The 33-year-old has spent the past decade with the club after signing from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg for £55million in 2015.

The Mirror reported on 23 March De Bruyne has held talks with MLS side San Diego FC about joining them when his contract at the Etihad expires.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the midfielder could look to use the upcoming Club World Cup as a shop window to land a deal.

Man City and Chelsea are set to feature in the Club World Cup, which will take place in the US between 15 June and 13 July.

Kevin De Bruyne could be heading for Man City exit after Pep Guardiola reveal

Borson insisted De Bruyne will have no future at Man City if Guardiola doesn’t believe his fitness levels are high enough for the Premier League.

He told Football Insider: “There are a few complexities to it.

“I think the first one is the Club World Cup. The second phase of Club World Cup is post the expiry of his contract on 30 June, which I think is a bit of a complexity.

“I assume that he would want to play and City would want to have him for that tournament.

“It may even be a shop window for him, especially if he wants to go to the US.

“But likewise, you would think he’s not going to wait much longer in terms of deciding what he’s going to do.

“I think he played better for Belgium than he has in numerous games for City recently.

“Clearly, if Pep doesn’t really rate him anymore for fitness reasons and everything else, then he has no future at City.

“You would think that he would want to be there for the Club World Cup, but I don’t know.

“That’s just one of the complexities of having a Club World Cup that sort of moves over the typical dates of contract expiry for footballers.”
