Tim Sherwood believes Sheffield United will pip Leeds United to the Championship title. Since losing 3-1 at home to the Whites on February 24, the Blades have taken 13 points from their last five matches to boost their promotion aspirations.
It will be fascinating to see what happens in the final five weeks of the regular season, with Sheffield United, Leeds and Burnley having pulled clear of the chasing pack in the race for a top-two finish. On paper, the Whites have the easiest run-in while Sheffield United have also got to travel to Turf Moor next month.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday, Sherwood tipped the Blades to finish first and Leeds to take second spot. The Sky Sports pundit said: "I really hope they (Leeds) do (get promoted), not that I have got anything against Burnley. I love Scott Parker. He is a friend of mine but I just want Leeds to be in the Premier League. It's just a better league when they are in it."
Four of the Whites' seven remaining fixtures are away from home, starting with a trip to Luton Town next weekend. The Hatters are 23rd in the table but are currently on a three-match unbeaten run as they look to avoid relegation.
Sherwood said: "I think Leeds will go up. They need to hold their nerve in the run-in.
"We talk all the time about what it's like playing at Elland Road and the crowd getting behind you when it's fantastic. When it's not going so well and they expect so much, sometimes people can fold and melt. They did it last year. They don't need to do that again and they've got that in their memory. It's taunting them all of the time.
"If Burnley continue to put the pressure on, it's going to go right to the wire.
"[Daniel] Farke is a very experienced manager and has done it before. Leeds, for me, it's all about dealing with the environment and the position they are in."
