Report: TFG weighing up another Everton sacking as Angus Kinnear set for major decision

Everton’s recruitment team is set to undergo a major reshuffle ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Friedkin Group have clearly identified Everton’s recruitment over the last decade as a major issue that needs addressing.

And they’re wasting no time in making much-needed change as Kevin Thelwell has been given his marching orders.

Thelwell is set to leave at the end of the season upon the expiry of his new deal, so the Toffees are in the market for a new sporting director.

And now, it’s thought the Friedkin’s are considering another sacking in the recruitment team, with the decision resting on soon-to-be CEO Angus Kinnear.

Everton weigh up Dan Purdy sacking

Two Leeds chiefs have been linked with a move to Goodison Park after their impressive recruits in the second tier, signing the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka, to name only a couple.

Indeed, to make room for them, Everton will likely have to make another sacking in the recruitment team and according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Head of Scouting Dan Purdy could be dismissed by the club.

Purdy has been with the club since 2014 and has overseen multiple regimes with the likes of Marco Silva, Carlo Ancelotti and most recently Sean Dyche.

Whilst there have been some successful recruits, there have been far too many misses, and it’s ultimately played a part in the PSR breach last term.

Though, Purdy’s job may be saved by the incoming CEO.

Angus Kinnear could save Purdy’s job at Everton

Everton have already agreed a deal to sign Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear, who will join forces in the summer.

Kinnear will be largely responsible for many of the key decisions on Merseyside, including the restructuring of the recruitment team.

And, fortunately for Purdy, Kinnear is a big fan of the Everton talent spotter, so he could advise the Friedkins against sacking him.

Purdy is only 31-years-old but has already plied his trade at Sheffield United, Leeds and now Everton as a match analyst and scout.
