Chelsea could be on for a mass exodus this summer as they have a large squad, much of which isn’t in Enzo Maresca‘s long-term plans.
The Blues are in a battle to try and land a Champions League place for next season, they currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, one point ahead of Manchester City in fifth. A top-five spot is most likely to secure a place in the Champions League due to the performances of the English clubs in the competition.
They still aren’t quite at the level of competing for the Premier League title as their last game, a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal showed.
If they are to compete in the Champions League next season, Maresca’s side will need to make some signings. However, that can only be funded by selling players due to the club’s precarious position regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules.
