Everton owners The Friedkin Group (TFG) have made several behind-the-scenes changes as the club prepare to move into their new stadium next season.

The Merseyside giants have all but secured their Premier League status for another campaign following the appointment of David Moyes earlier this year.

Angus Kinnear, who has spent eight years with Leeds United, has been drafted in as the club’s new CEO, effective from June.

It was also confirmed earlier this month Aaron Duckmanton is joining as chief marketing and digital officer and Simon Hunter is coming in as chief stadium commercial officer.

Meanwhile, owner Dan Friedkin has now been appointed as a director alongside Eric Williamson, who has worked in various leadership roles at TFG across the past 35 years.

Former Goodison Park chief Keith Wyness told Football Insider Friedkin is set to become Everton chairman following his appointment as a director.

However, finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Williamson could be appointed as the club’s new chairman as he’s known as Friedkin’s “fix it guy”.

Fellow TFG staff Marc Watts and Analaura Moreira-Dunkel were previously appointed to the Everton board in December, joining pre-existing members Colin Chong and Katie Charles.

Everton momentum building after new hires confirmed

Borson insisted the momentum is building for Everton as they prepare to move into their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock this summer.

He told Football Insider: “Friedkin owns the club, so it’s kind of irrelevant whether he’s chairman or not.

“He’s on the board, so he’s got all the responsibilities of a director. I think whether he’s chair or not is probably just about the time commitment that he has available for Everton, as opposed to anything else.

“One thing’s for sure, whoever the chairman is, he will be effectively one of his trusted partners. Eric Williamson, who I think is known as being his kind of fix-it guy, also came on board, so he could also be the chairman. I don’t think it matters either way.

“Friedkin’s obviously very engaged. He obviously owns it. He’s obviously the key guy, so whether his title is chairman or something else, I think is largely academic.

“What’s more interesting in the Everton situation is they clearly seem to be focused on developing the entire executive team.

“They have got a new board in place. They have done a refinancing with JP Morgan. They have got the new stadium, so the momentum is now all turning in the right direction.”

David Moyes and Angus Kinnear clash over Everton deals

Football Insider revealed on 21 March David Moyes and Angus Kinnear are at loggerheads over Everton’s recruitment plans.

Moyes is pushing hard for Everton to appoint Brighton’s David Weir and talks have already been held over a deal.

Weir played for the Scottish manager at Goodison and has had success on the south coast as technical director.

Meanwhile, Kinnear wants to bring Leeds transfer chief Nick Hammond with him from Elland Road.
