Alan Shearer’s emotional interview in full – Sheer passion and pride on Town Moor stage

Alan Shearer took to the Town Moor stage and gave an emotional speech about Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win.

An estimated 300,000 fans were out to celebrate our first trophy for 70 years with an open top bus parade taking place before the celebrations ended on the Moor.

There were many highlights on a memorable day. Bruno Guimaraes stole the show at the Town Moor, but Shearer’s words as a fan of the club are sure to strike a chord with the Geordie nation’s heartstrings.

“We could get used to this, couldn’t we?” is how Shearer started his interview on the stage with Pete Graves and Lynsey Hipgrave.

Our all-time top goalscorer and boyhood supporter of the club told of how our win at Wembley was the best day of life, surpassing winning the Premier League with Blackburn in his own playing days.

Shearer said his father, who passed away last May, would have watched down with pride as we deservedly ended our longstanding trophy drought – Eddie Howe putting his name in the conversation with the Toon’s all-time best managers in the process.

Shearer spoke like a fan – not a pundit

Shearer is black-and-white to the bone and that came across clearly on the Town Moor stage as he encapsulated just what it means to be a Mag and seeing us win.

Some pundits and supporters of other clubs won’t be able to grasp just how special this moment is for us, and one of our own stood on that stage as a representative of the fans with a Toon scarf draped across his neck.

The Prem’s all-time leading goalscorer really is one of us and that’s never been clearer than the celebrations in the wake of Wembley as he has fully indulged in the euphoria from Box Park to the Town Moor.
