_The Pittsburgh Steelers are most of the way through the first part of the offseason [leading up to the draft](https://www.nfl.com/draft/). Before we get there, we’re going to [take stock of how the roster has evolved](https://steelersdepot.com/2025/02/ranking-the-steelers-top-offseason-roster-needs/) over the past several weeks. Position by position, we’ll break down who’s coming and going and what’s next for those rookies and_ _those already here._
**Position: Offensive Tackle**
**Total Positional Figure: 5**
**Offseason Additions: 0**
**Offseason Deletions: 2**
**Players Retained:**
**Broderick Jones:** The Steelers plan to move Broderick Jones to left tackle, but will he settle in there? That’s what they hope as the former first-round pick enters his third season. If he can’t “swim” there, some already wonder if this will be his final season in Pittsburgh. He is under contract through 2026, but he may represent trade value if they don’t believe he is a long-term option.
**Troy Fautanu:** Last year’s first-round pick, Fautanu started one game before suffering a season-ending injury. The Steelers believe in him but have yet to see him much in action. In fact, their entire tackle position rests on hopes and dreams. Until we see concrete proof, it has to remain a big question mark, especially if they have an immobile quarterback.
**Spencer Anderson:** With Dan Moore Jr. gone, Spencer Anderson currently profiles as the Steelers’ swing tackle. Except he has focused chiefly on guard for the past year. It’s somewhat surprising that they haven’t yet added an experienced veteran.
**Dylan Cook:** A couple of years ago, Dylan Cook looked like he might be the Steelers’ next diamond in the rough. Since then, he was demoted to the practice squad and even released. He is back on a Futures deal, but can he make it back to the 53-man roster? With the team’s current lack of depth, it’s not impossible.
**Doug Nester:** A college teammate of Zach Frazier, Nester played guard and tackle at West Virginia. He spent the 2024 season on the Steelers’ practice squad and could be a dark horse in training camp.
**Players Added: N/A**
**Players Deleted:**
**Dan Moore Jr.:** After four years as the Steelers’ left tackle, Dan Moore Jr. cashed in big via free agency. They will happily accept a third-round compensatory pick for his services, but Pittsburgh still doesn’t know if their plans will lead to better results at the position. Broderick Jones is a big question mark going into his third season.
**Calvin Anderson:** As of this writing, the Steelers have not re-signed Calvin Anderson, though they certainly could. Given their lack of depth at tackle, it would be a sensible, cheap move. Ideally, they would set their sights higher, but he shouldn’t move the needle against the cap. And he certainly wouldn’t prevent them from making any other moves.
**Notes And Draft Outlook:**
While the Steelers have their starting tackles, they must seriously consider their depth. Right now, Spencer Anderson is their swing tackle, and he finished last season as their third-string guard. A mid-round pick here isn’t out of the question, but an experienced veteran signing would be preferred.
