Tottenham have been enticed by Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams’ release clause
Tottenham Hotspur have endured an awful season. With the club currently sitting 14th in the Premier League, the pressure is mounting, and questions are being asked of Ange Postecoglou.
Regardless of what happens with Ange Postecoglou, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started planning for the forthcoming summer transfer window. Spurs have adopted a refreshing transfer policy in recent years, focusing on recruiting and developing young talents with high potential. To rebuild the squad after such an underwhelming campaign, the club are expected to stick to their transfer policy rather than go after readymade superstars in the summer.
The North London outfit are now said to be interested in bringing another young talent to the Hotspur Way. According to a report from TEAMTalk, Tottenham are keen on signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. But they will face competition from Premier League rivals such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature.

One of La Liga’s most exciting wingers, Nico Williams stood out in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumphant campaign along with Barcelona’s jewel Lamine Yamal. He has continued that form, notching nine goals and seven assists in 37 games across all competitions this season.
The aforementioned report adds that Tottenham are enticed by the Pamplona-born talent’s €58m release clause in his contract that runs until 2027. Williams is happy in Bilbao, though, so it won’t be straightforward to convince him to leave.
The Lilywhites have work to do in convincing the 22-year-old to sign on the dotted lines. They have to qualify for the Champions League to stand a chance of signing the Bilbao star. Qualifying through the league looks extremely improbable, but they have a ray of hope to get into the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min could be offloaded at the end of the season
Daniel Levy and Co. are eyeing radical changes to the squad’s forward department, having reportedly placed Son Heung-min and Richarlison on the chopping block. Timo Werner will return to RB Leipzig once his loan deal expires in June, while a decision on Mathys Tel’s future is yet to be made.
Capable of playing on both flanks, Williams would be a terrific addition to Tottenham’s attacking unit. He would not only be a quality long-term replacement for Son but also compete with Brennan Johnson on the right flank. With his speed, trickery, dynamism and flair, the Spaniard would only enhance the potency of the team’s attack.
