Arsenal dispatched bottom side Crystal Palace 4-0 to apply pressure on league leaders Chelsea on a packed day of Women’s Super League action.
Beth Mead opened the scoring for The Gunners with her 50th WSL goal, before Alessia Russo added a second.
Arsenal netted a third in the second half through an Allyson Swaby own-goal, before Mead added her second of the afternoon and the team's fourth.
The result sees Arsenal go second, five points adrift of Chelsea, and ahead of Manchester United in third on goal difference.
The newly promoted Palace are languishing at the bottom of the table.
Late drama saw Villa claim a 2-1 win over Liverpool and extend the gap between them and the relegation-threatened Eagles to four points.
Liverpool’s Marie Hobinger saw her second-half penalty cancelled out by Kirsty Hanson before Jenna Clark scored an 87th-minute own goal to give Natalia Arroyo’s Villa all three points.
The day’s early kick-off saw Manchester United beat Everton 2-0 to keep pace with the WSL’s top three.
Dominique Janssen and Grace Clinton netted as United went level on points with Arsenal. Everton remain rooted in seventh.
Manchester City beat Brighton 2-1, courtesy of Kerstin Casparij's first WSL strike and Vivianne Miedema's late goal. The Seagulls scored a consolation through Charlize Rule.
Leicester and Tottenham drew 1-1 in what turned out to be a cagey affair.
Leicester took the lead thanks to a second-half Josefine Rybrink own-goal, only for Drew Spence to equalise seven minutes later on her 50th Spurs appearance.
Table toppers Chelsea play West Ham at 16:30.
