Dubai: A Bangladeshi national has been arrested for allegedly attacking his wife with a knife and acid in Mecca Province on Eid Al Fitr, killing her and another woman while injuring several others, Saudi authorities said.

According to Mecca Region Police, the assault occurred as the woman was stepping off a company bus operated by a maintenance firm.

The suspect attempted to take his own life by pouring acid on himself but was apprehended at the scene. Legal proceedings are underway.
