Jaxson Dart took a much-needed break from the grind of NFL Draft preparation over the weekend to get outdoors and get back to his roots. He flew down to Georgia immediately after his Pro Day to go hunting.

It was a great success! The legendary Ole Miss signal-caller bagged a nice turkey alongside Bill and Tyler Jordan of Realtree.

Dart, a potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, was born and raised in Kaysville, Utah about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. His grandfather made his living off of the land, his father is an avid outdoorsman, his great grandfather the same. So on and so forth. It was passed down through generations!

Brandon Dart, the patriarch of the family, is also very involved in wildlife and conservation. He is a frequent donor to multiple conservation projects around the Beehive State and focuses a lot of his time into various programs that are designed to allow Utah wildlife to thrive.

Like father, like son!

When not throwing darts (overplayed pun intended), Jaxson gets out in the field as often as possible. Whether it be deer, boar, geese ducks, or otherwise, he also loves to hunt.

The 21-year-old quarterback even took down a massive cougar prior to his junior year in 2023— much like he did the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Sugar Bowl. I digress.

Tyler and Bill Jordan of ‘Realtree‘ camouflage are Ole Miss alums. Bill actually played wide receiver in Oxford in the early 70s. In turn, they are very involved with the university and its athletic department— as well as the highly-successful Grove Collective. The Rebels often wear custom Realtree helmets on the field because of the unique partnership!

In the 70s, Bill Jordan chose to play WR at Ole Miss because of its proximity to the outdoors.

A decade later, he founded his own hunting brand — Realtree.

The Dart family has become very close to the Jordans in recent years and they are truly grateful for their unwavering support. Jaxson has been able to create a special bond with both Tyler and Bill that will continue throughout his life. It goes beyond his time at Ole Miss!

With Jaxson soon off to the NFL, his calendar is booked for the foreseeable future. Thus, when the Jordans invited him and Brandon down to their property outside of Columbus, Georgia, he was all-in! They hopped on a Nichols Air jet shortly after his Pro Day and hit the woods on Saturday to open turkey season in style— decked out in Realtree, of course.

We were the first group to hunt and the Toms were primed. Tyler is as good a turkey hunter as they come. We were able to work a few Toms that morning. They put on a show for us, but Jaxson passed and wanted to hunt more and find a special bird. It all came together that afternoon!

Jaxson was able to harvest a double-bearded mature Tom. Most male turkeys have a single beard, so the decision to wait on his shot proved to be a good omen! This bird was indeed special.

Although it was not Jaxson’s first turkey, it was his first in the state of Georgia. And as far as I can tell, it was also his first double beard. Pretty sweet.

The last few months have been non-stop Draft prep for Jaxson Dart. For him to take a little time and relax amongst the wildlife was a much-needed reprieve before things pick back up again in just a few weeks. And he got out of Georgia with a rare turkey! It doesn’t get much better than that.
