Tempers flared briefly between Manchester City and Bournemouth players after the latter refused to kick the ball out of play with Erling Haaland struggling following a heavy fall near the advertising boards.

The City striker could not continue after hurting his ankle despite his best attempts. And with Haaland signalling that he needed to come off, Kevin De Bruyne led the inquest when the ball did finally go out of play after the Cherries had opted to play on.

De Bruyne was seen having words with Lewis Cook as players from both sides moved over to give their twopence worth.

Thankfully, the situation was soon defused during a break in play which saw Haaland limp off. His replacement, Omar Marmoush, would go on to have an instant impact, scoring to give City the lead.
