‘A lot of people talk about my age’ - Lewandowski bites back after Barca brace

Robert Lewandowski was a happy man after scoring twice on Sunday as [Barcelona beat Girona 4-1](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/3/30/24395687/barcelona-girona-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions) to restore their three-point lead at the top of the table.

Barcelona’s opener came from an own goal and they had to wait for the second half to find the back of the net again.

Lewandowski bagged a brace and Ferran Torres also scored, with the striker praising his team’s patience afterwards.

> “We had everything under control, but we needed the final pass. In the second half, we were more offensive and created more chances,” he told DAZN.

>

> “We scored several goals, and that’s important because if we can’t score early on, we have to be patient and stick to the plan. If you score four goals, you can always say we played a very good game.”

Lewandowski also took aim at his detractors and insisted he’s still feeling great, at the grand old age of 36, as he took his tally to 25 this season in La Liga.

> “A lot of people are talking about my age, but I know I’m working as hard as always. I want to play at the top level for a few more years. I feel very good physically,” he added.

>

> “There’s no difference between a few years ago and now in terms of my stats. We know we’re going to play at a high level until the end. If we’re focused like we were today, we’re very dangerous.

>

> “For me, the most important thing is what I have to do collectively with the team. I know that if I score two goals, I’ll be helping my team.

>

> “For me as a striker, the important thing is to have more confidence. If I’m in the box or close to it, I know that if the ball comes to me, I have the goal in my head.”

Barcelona’s No. 9 has come in for criticism at times this season but his goal record remains formidable and he is on target to win the Pichichi for a second time.
