Chloe Kelly: Arsenal have helped me to get my smile back

**Chloe Kelly says Arsenal has allowed her to get her smile back after a standout performance from the England forward helped the Gunners fly past Crystal Palace in a 4-0 rout.**

The red and white faithful made their voices heard inside of Borough Sports Ground, singing “Chloe Kelly, we want you to stay.”

When asked whether or not she wants to extend her stay at Arsenal beyond the expiration of her loan contract, Kelly expressed:  “Of course, this is a great club.”

“But, I think for me, I just want to focus on being the best I can be every day to contribute to this amazing club, amazing scene. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring me here on loan.

“Of course, I’m still contracted to Manchester City, so I think I have to show them respect. But I think for me, I just want to be at my best every single day, give what I can for this season, and who knows what the future holds.”

Amidst rumours of her future, the forward said that her time at Arsenal has helped her get her smile back.

“It’s been great,” Kelly affirmed. “I always said I really wanted to get my smile back, and this has done just that for me, and I’m very grateful. So you can see, when I have a smile on my face, I just play free and I have good energy. So I think for me, that’s what it’s all about. I think when Renée gives that confidence, you just have to show and repay that. I’m just having fun.”

‘Hopefully the fans can see that I’m trying to be at my best’

The forward has been at her very best this week, following up a stellar performance against Real Madrid with another impressive outing against Crystal Palace. _The Halfway Line_ asked Kelly about her defensive discipline, something that really shone in south London.

“I think that’s in my own game,” Kelly analysed. “I think for me, I want to win the ball back for the team. I want to work for the team, and that’s the best form of attack, is how you defend. So if you can do it up in the higher areas, you don’t have to do too much too deep. So I think for me, that’s the way I look it. I give my all every game, and hopefully the fans can see that I’m just trying to be at my best.”

Kelly will now join up with the Lionesses after a turbulent block with the Gunners. The forward reflected on a “very positive block” from the north London side.

“I think the reaction from the group, from the Real Madrid game, from the Liverpool defeat as well. I think it was a great reaction. I think you learned so much in those moments, and I think it showed a great reaction from the whole team and staff, and I think that’s great to see.

“I think you’re really challenged in times where it may be a defeat. So I think we’ve been at our best now towards the end of the block, and hopefully we can keep moving forward and be at our best for the rest of the season.”
