Renée on "professional" win against Palace

Renée Slegers credited our team for a "professional" performance as we ran out 4-0 winners against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, our head coach was pleased to see that the momentum from Wednesday's win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Women's Champions League had continued.

"We had a great performance against Madrid. There was a lot of effort going into that performance," said Renée. "We celebrated a little bit that evening straight after the game. Then we had to prepare for the next one.

"I think the way everyone, both staff and players, turned that around and got the team going into this game with the right mindset was very good, so big credit to the players. I'm very happy with the win today."

Sunday marked our seventh straight WSL win and the boss was pleased by our growing consistency and efficiency in front of goal.

"We have such great quality in our team. Of course, the players that assist and finish, but also the other players behind building those attacks and setting it up the right way. There's so much quality. For us, it's always about trying to get those players in positions where they can play to their strengths."

Beth Mead bagged a brace against the Eagles, her 50th and 51st WSL goal in Arsenal colours, and the game's opening goal was a product of Beth and Chloe Kelly's longstanding partnership.

"They've been playing with each other for a long time. They know each other well. We try to create a structure and a framework for the players to relate to, but then to be free within that structure. I think that's where we want to get it to. I think you see that today and hopefully more often as well."

With two weeks off now for April's international break, Renée noted that our whole staff will hit the ground running to prepare for the Champions League semi-final when the squad return.

"We'll review this block and then we go and prepare for the next block while the players are away with their national teams. It's good \[to have\] a change of scenery for the girls. Let them represent their national teams, and then we come back and we want to continue what we're doing."
