Erling Haaland injury latest as striker limps off during Man City win

The striker looked to in a bit of discomfort amid a combination of clashing with the advertising hoardings and getting his ankle caught under the falling weight of Lewis Cook.

After receiving treatment, Haaland attempted to play on but immediately signalled to the bench that he could not continue and was replaced by Omar Marmoush.

Naturally, given the Norwegian’s importance to Man City and with upcoming games against Leicester and Manchester United in the Premier League, the hope is his injury isn’t too serious.

When asked for an update after the win at the Vitality Stadium, Guardiola revealed it is still a waiting game: “I don’t know yet, we will have to see.”

In Haaland’s absence, Marmoush would make an instant impact. With his first touches off the ball, the January signing scored what turned out to be the winner to send Man City into their seventh successive FA Cup semi-final where they will face Nottingham Forest.

"We did it,” Guardiola added when reflecting on the impressive achievement. "Seven times in a row reaching semi-finals in the FA Cup.

"I am sorry to tell you, but this is outstanding. This generation of players, they have done this.

"To come here one of the toughest away places to come.

"After the impact from Nico \[O'Reilly\] was really good, but not just him - really pleased that we reach the semi-final, again."
