Pittsburgh Steelers star blasts NFL’s idea to play more games: ‘You crazy’

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen ripped the NFL’s idea to add another game to the regular-season schedule. Commissioner Rodger Goodell and the owners are expected to reject the idea of adding an 18th game, and most players are unhappy with it.

That includes Queen, who sees many issues with the idea, even if the NFL adds an extra bye week during the season.

“You crazy if you think ppl will last through that! Pre season is how under the radar players make their cases! We play 17 games we should have 2 bye weeks as is.. Definitely scratch otas and mini camp start training camp back up around July 17,” Queen said.

The NFL has long wanted an 18th game, and it seems they will try to do that here. However, it would have to open the CBA back up, and to land that game, the owners might have to give players significant concessions.

That proposal will not pass with the NFLPA standing staunchly against it unless there are dramatic changes to the offseason program and rest periods. Queen noted that OTAs and minicamp are getting scrapped, and that seems like an idea that might come to fruition, too.
