Should Arsenal go all-in on Isak or spread their spending around the squad?

The Gunners definitely need a number 9 to stay alive in the title race. Arsenal are desperately in need to sign a striker this summer. With Gabriel Jesus facing an ACL injury, their only option is Kai Havertz. Playing 23 matches he has made only 12 goal contribution this season. He is predominantly considered as an attacking midfielder rather than a striker. Upfront Arsenal need someone to score consistently and Alexander Isak is someone who can do that with ease.

Isak has scored 23 goals and provided 5 assists this season across all competitions. He also helped Newcastle to win EFL cup, their major trophy in 56 years against Liverpool. He is currently having his best season with Newcastle, playing for the top 4 spot in the premier league. They also are expected to play in the UCL next season. Considering all these factors, it would be extremely difficult for Arsenal to convince Isak to sign for them.

Why Signing Alexander Isak is Complicated?

The Gunners can sign any of the quality strikers that are available this summer. But what separates Isak from others is that, Isak is a proven Striker against big clubs, in big stages. His ability to score goals and hold the ball in the final third makes him a special one. His new market value also has been increased to 100 million, makes him an expensive number 9. Arteta also likes his style of play and thinks that he is more suitable for his attack.

Newcastle on the other hand are building the team for the future. They have no plan of letting Isak leave the club. With his performance this season, the would be expecting more from him. It would also help them build a team around him than letting him go and buying someone new.

Arsenal have to spend around 150 million for him to even consider to take the deal to leave Newcastle. Meanwhile Newcastle can just make him sign a new contract to continue his glory for the club. The club’s owner also stated that they are willing to do everything in their power to keep him at the club.

Things to Consider before signing the Striker

The Gunners are so active during this summer transfer. But before offering a lucrative offer to the Striker, the management must watch out for certain things. In order to spend 150 million, they must build a solid team around Isak to help him play. Their rivals Liverpool set the best and the worst example in both these cases. They signed Van Dijk and Alisson for 140 million which turned out to be the best signing for them. Meanwhile they also spent 64 million for Darwin Nunez who hasn’t lived up to the potential.

Arsenal also have build a solid defense and a promising midfield in their squad. Their only problem for them was their attack who failed to deliver consistently. It has been the major reason for them to not put up a fight with Liverpool in the title race.

Hence before going all out for the striker, its better for Arsenal to look for other alternatives. Rather than spending huge amount on this deal, Arsenal can always explore other options and focus on balancing the future.
