Slowly but surely the games are being ticked off, and with Girona eventually sent packing at the Estadio Lluis Companys, Barca again find themselves at the top of the league with nine games left to play.
The destination of the title remains in their hands, and although the second Clasico of the season is some six weeks away it’s already looking like a title decider.
There will be the likes of Betis, Leganes and Celta Vigo who might take issue with that, but if Robert Lewandowski can continue his sensational goalscoring form, any and all future opponents are going to find it difficult to derail the Barca juggernaut.

Encouragement continues to be offered thanks to the high line which, if breached, will generally see a goal scored by the opposition.
However, another four goals on Sunday brought Barca’s La Liga total to an astonishing 82 scored; at least 20 more than any other team in the division.
It’s even more impressive when you consider how the likes of Vini Jr., Rodrygo, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham have all been lauded.
Against Girona, it wasn’t only the Lewandowski show, but the Polish international did prove once again that although age is wearying him, he still knows where the goal is.
There’s a decent argument to be made in terms of a younger player being more mobile and fitter than the 36-year-old, but only Mo Salah in the elite European leagues is a better goalscorer at present.
Lewy has outscored Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Ousmane Dembele, and has done so with a supporting cast that it could be argued aren’t quite yet at the footballing levels of a Man City or a Paris Saint-Germain.

That said, any team in world football would want to have Lamine Yamal in their side, the teenager proving once again why many have tipped him for the Ballon d’Or in the next few years.
Pedri was the glue that held everything together and whilst it was only a cameo from Frenkie de Jong, the Dutchman offered some urgency and purpose to Barca’s attacks when he came on.
Jules Kounde was workmanlike and in the end it was another easy win for the hosts.
It was a vital one too because at one apiece and with Girona in the ascendency, things could have turned out very differently indeed.
