Jude Bellingham hailed Real Madrid as 'the comeback kids' as his side continue to be linked with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real came from behind to beat Leganes 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, but Leganes immediately hit back through Diego García. Borja Jimenez’s side then took a shock lead four minutes before the break when he finished past Andriy Lunin.

However, Bellingham restored parity two minutes into the second-half before Mbappe completed the comeback when he finished from the penalty spot 14 minutes from normal time. And, taking to social media following the win, the England international wrote: “The comeback kids.”

The victory came at the end of a week in which it emerged that Carlo Ancelotti's side are working on finalising a deal to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer. The defender’s Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

As reported by the ECHO on Friday, the 26-year-old is continuing to consider whether to accept an offer from Real. The La Liga giants failed in a bid to sign the England international for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.

When asked about the prospect of Alexander-Arnold joining Real back in January, Real boss Ancelotti refused to be drawn on the club’s pursuit of the Liverpool defender. He said: “It is difficult for me to talk about that in this context. But we are going to have to wait and see.

“We are focused on all these games in January and the game tomorrow (against Valencia) and I’ve got nothing more to say. It’s not sensible for me to speak about the market right now.

“I’m not going to speak about it because right now, here, is not the place to talk about it.

“We will see what will happen, but I have a great squad. We have got injuries and problems with that, but we are also able to overcome them.”
