Chelsea star attracting interest from Spanish clubs

Chelsea face fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur when they return to action at the start of April.

The Blues were defeated 1-0 by Arsenal in their last outing prior to the international break, leaving Enzo Maresca’s side fourth in the Premier League table.

Despite winning just four of their last 13 league games, the Blues remain on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

This summer could be a busy one at Stamford Bridge, and it appears that one of Chelsea’s most expensive players is attracting interest from elsewhere.

According to TBR Football, midfielder Enzo Fernandez has emerged as a target for both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine cost Chelsea a club record fee of around £106 million when he joined from Portuguese side Benfica in 2023, having impressed for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Fernandez has attracted interest from two of Spain’s biggest clubs

In total he has made 97 appearances for the Blues, captaining the West London outfit on several occasions.

Despite the interest, the report claims that Chelsea have no intention of selling the 24-year-old this summer.

Fernandez is contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2031/32 campaign, having signed a long-term deal when swapping Lisbon for London two years ago.

It is claimed that talks have taken place between intermediaries, however Chelsea are adamant that the central midfielder is not for sale and won’t be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The report suggests that a move to Atletico would be most likely if Fernandez were to leave Chelsea, however the player is more likely to want to pursue a move to Champions League holders Real Madrid.

This season Fernandez has scored five goals and registered nine assists in 35 games for Enzo Maresca’s side across all competitions.
