A look at where Tottenham’s Champions League finalists are today as the six-year anniversary gets closer.

It feels like a lifetime ago that Tottenham reached the Champions League final in Madrid in 2019, ultimately losing to Liverpool. Spurs are having a nightmare season, currently in the bottom half of the Premier League and with Ange Postecoglou hanging on by a thread.

It has been almost six years since Tottenham reached the Champions League final, and while the final didn’t go their way, fans will treasure those days as relatively successful ones. Here we take a look at the starting XI from that evening in Madrid to see where those players are now.

Hugo Lloris

Lloris is currently with LAFC having moved there on a free transfer from Tottenham in 2024, ending his 12-year association with the club. He has since made 37 league appearances and won a U.S. Open Cup with LAFC.

Kieran Trippier

Trippier left Tottenham in 2019 to join Atletico Madrid, enjoying a good spell there, making 68 league appearances over three years, winning a La Liga title. He joined Newcastle United in 2022 and has made 89 league appearances to-date. He was heavily linked with an exit during the winter window but ultimately stayed put.

Toby Alderweireld

Alderweireld is still going at the age of 36 having returned to home country Belgium to join Royal Antwerp in 2022 following a short spell with Al-Duhail. He has made 103 league appearances for the Belgian side and scored 13 goals in that time from centre-back. He has won Belgian Pro League title, Belgian Cup and a Belgium Super Cup titles during his time with Antwerp. He retired from the national team in 2022 after a whopping 137 caps.

Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen left Spurs in 2020 to join Benfica, and he spent two years there, making 57 league appearances. The centre-back joined Anderlecht in 2022, returning to his home country, and he has made 62 league appearances since. Vertonghen is now 37 years of age, and he retired from international duty 2024 after making 157 appearances.

Danny Rose

Rose left Tottenham in 2021 after 14 years at the club, making 156 league appearances. Rose joined Watford after leaving Spurs, and he stayed there for a year, but he only made eight league appearances, and he hung up his boots after limited contribution.

Moussa Sissoko

Sissoko is still at Watford, the club he joined in 2024 after leaving Nantes in 2024. Sissoko had been with Watford after leaving Tottenham in 2021, and he became captain after returning. The midfielder is now 35 years of age, but he remains a regular, making 34 league appearances this season.

Harry Winks

Winks never reached the big heights he was expected to at Tottenham and he departed in 2023 to join Leicester City on the back of a loan spell with Sampdoria. He was relegated with the Foxes, promoted back to the Premier League and now he looks as though he will be relegated again with the East Midlands club. Winks has made 67 league appearances for the Foxes to date.

Dele Alli

Alli remains a complicated case, struggling with injury after leaving Spurs and never reaching the ceiling he was tipped to. Alli had a loan spell with Besiktas during his time with the Toffees, and he left the Merseyside club in 2024, joining Cesc Fabregas’ Como in 2025. He was sent off on his debut, making only one league appearance to date.

Christian Eriksen

Eriksen had a good spell with Inter Milan after leaving Tottenham, winning Serie A and reaching the Europa League final. He then joined Brentford before being snapped up by Manchester United after returning from a heart issue. He has made 66 league appearances for the Red Devils since, but he is likely to move on this summer. He is 33 years of age.

Heung-min Son

Still a Tottenham regular, Son, who is 32 years of age, has penned a deal to remain with Tottenham for another year. He has made 329 league appearances for Spurs, scoring 127 times. He will be remembered as a Spurs favourite long after his time in North London is done.

Harry Kane

Kane left Tottenham in 2023 to join Bayern Munich on a long-term deal. Bayern were way off last season, but this term they are well on their way to a Bundesliga title, while they still have a chance of winning the Champions League. Kane has scored an incredible 57 goals in 56 games league games for Bayern.
