An NBA team usually has a player that represents their culture and spirit very well. For the past few years, Jimmy Butler was that guy for the Miami Heat. Since he left, many have thought of only one person who might be able to handle being the new face of the franchise - Bam Adebayo.
Hustle is the main thing that this Heat squad boasts despite not having much stardom or even stability to them in the past year or so. It just made sense that Bam Adebayo would take up that mantle.
How is he feeling about this new role? Things seem to be going well and Coach Erik Spoelstra knows that it's bearing fruit, via Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
"We feed off his emotion, we feed off his leadership, we feed off his voice, we feed off his inspiration and that's a monumental responsibility," the Heat head honcho said.
Adebayo has led this team to win four straight games. One of them was even a triumphant moment when they beat the Golden State Warriors during Jimmy Butler's return to the Kaseya Center.
Spoelstra does know that this may take quite a toll on Adebayo. So, he often reaches out to make sure that the Heat star does not feel drained prior to their matchups
"I'm always thinking about him. I want him to be able to recharge his batteries on the day in between because it's different if you're the emotional leader for the team and everybody is looking to you for that type of energy," he concluded.
There are still eight games left in the Heat's regular season schedule. Hopefully, Spoelstra finds a way for Adebayo to not burn out before their NBA Play-In Tournament fixtures.
