Over the last couple of years, there has been a great deal of jokes made about former Green Bay Packers players heading out East to play for the New York Jets. Of course, the addition of any former Packers players by the Jets now will not have the same effect now that they have moved on from four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
Indeed, the Rodgers experiment in New York did not go the way the franchise envisioned it would. When the Packers sent the future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback to the Jets ahead of the 2023 NFL season, many expected them to be Super Bowl contenders. Instead, though, Rodgers missed virtually the entire year in 2024 and then led New York to a 5-12 record in 2024.
In addition to cutting ties with Rodgers, the Jets have also severed their relationships with many of the former Packers that they brought in to appease him. One of them, wide receiver Allen Lazard, however, may be sticking around.

Over the course of last offseason and this one, the Jets have bid adieu to several former Packers players, most notably wide receivers Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. Both were favorites of Rodgers’ during their time together in Green Bay, and New York thought adding them might help him recapture some of his old magic.
It did not.
Cobb is now an analyst with the SEC Network and Adams recently signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Rams.
The wide receiver many expected to be the first to go though, was Allen Lazard, and it appears he may be sticking around in New York.
Mougey says they’re trying to restructure Allen Lazard’s contact and they hope to have him on the roster. (I get the sense that’s not a gimme, so stay tuned.) #Jets

Lazard, who was Green Bay’s number one wide receiver following Adams’ departure in 2022, had the second-best statistical season of his career in 2024 despite playing in just 12 games. He had 37 receptions for 530 yards and six touchdowns last year.
In 2022, his lone season as Rodgers’ top target with the Packers, he had 60 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns.
