The Celtics will be nearly at full strength, though they do have one of their All-Stars listed on the injury report for Monday’s game against the Grizzlies. Jaylen Brown is questionable with right knee posterior impingement, which is an issue he’s been dealing with recently.
Fortunately, nobody else is listed on the injury report. Al Horford (toe) and Payton Pritchard (hip) missed the Spurs win Saturday, but they’re good to go for the Memphis game.
Brown has been dealing with a recent bone bruise in his right knee, revealing he’s on a minutes restriction as he manages the injury. The issue forced him to miss more than a week recently. Brown has played in the last three games, but he did appear to tweak his right knee Saturday in San Antonio.
“Just battling injury, just mentally making sure your confidence and your body is still aligned with the game and stuff like that,” Brown said after the Suns win. “So that’s pretty much it. I’m still working my way back, just building up. I’ve been on a minutes restriction but still just making the right steps. My body still doesn’t feel 100%, but today was a good step in the right direction.”
The Celtics will be cautious with their talented All-Star with the playoffs so close. They can still catch the Cavaliers in the standings, though that’s looking improbable with only eight games left in the season. Still, the C’s have been dominant recently as they’ve won 13 of their last 14 games. They’re also 5-0 on this six-game road trip so far, looking to remain undefeated on the trip and potentially match NBA history.
The Grizzlies come in at 44-30 as they’re in playoff positioning in the West. But they stunningly fired coach Taylor Jenkins just days ago despite being so close to the playoffs. So it should be an interesting game come Monday as the Celtics look to win their ninth straight game.
