At time of the incident the Rockets were leading 55-38 during the game. Brooks finished the game with 8 points in 11 minutes of action. The ejection could be more important than a normal technical foul.

With the result of the two technicals it gives Brooks a total of 15 on the season. Per NBA rules if a player receives 16 technical fouls they will be suspended for one game. Brooks is a key contributor for the Rockets as he is expected to play a large role during the playoffs.

Brooks is currently averaging 13.9 ppg on the season. Known for his trashing talking aggressive play along with his elite basketball IQ, Brooks has quietly built a reputation as one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. Houston has benefited tremendously from Brooks play, especially on the defensive end.

Pairing him with another elite defender like Amen Thompson has given Houston one of the most suffocating backcourts in the league. Whether switching, fighting through screens, or closing out on shooters, Brooks consistently makes the right reads. Brooks defense will be key for the Rockets to advance through the playoffs.
