Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson could achieve yet another milestone

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker could be on the way to achieving yet another major milestone in the Premier League.

Alisson has been in scintillating form for Liverpool this season, despite the periods he has missed through injury. The goalie could steal the Golden Glove award for this season if he manages a stretch of clean sheets in the remaining games in the PL.

The Golden Glove is the prize given to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a Premier League season. The Brazilian goalie has also claimed it twice in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.

Alisson major milestone in sight

Alisson has kept 8 clean sheets this season and currently sits behind four other goalkeepers in the race for the Golden Glove award, with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels topping the list on 12.

The Liverpool No.1 aims to become the second goalkeeper in Liverpool’s history to secure the award three times, after Pepe Reina achieved the feat in his first three years at Anfield from 2005-2008.

Another milestone in sight for Alisson Becker is that he is now only six shy of taking his total career Premier League clean sheets to 100. He would be the 18th keeper to achieve the feat in Premier League history and the second from Brazil after Man City’s Ederson.

Alisson’s highest total clean sheets in a season are the 21 he managed in the 2018-19 season, which was his debut season for the Reds, and the 20 clean sheets some three years later in the 2021-22 season.

Glenn Price on the Liverpool official website reported that Alisson also has the chance of becoming the sixth fastest keeper to hit the milestone of a century of shutouts, should he manage the feat within his next 23 Premier League appearances.
