Predicted Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest, including three returning stars

Manchester United finally return to action after the international break, facing Nottingham Forest.

Similar to March 2024 after the spectacular 4-3 win over Liverpool, the international break came at the wrong time for Manchester United in 2025.

Coming off back to back wins vs Real Sociedad and Leicester City, with seven goals scored in two games, United have to find new momentum.

It might help that United face a Forest side who played in the FA Cup two days earlier, going to extra-time and penalties, while Ruben Amorim‘s side

Injury latest

One positive to come out of the international break was a chance for Manchester United’s players to recover from some of the minor injuries.

Leny Yoro is back in training, along with Harry Maguire. Even Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are in training.

Ruben Amorim will provide a closer update on the status of his stars – but we won’t be expecting United to rush either of Shaw or Mount back into his starting XI.

More United News

A player we are excited to see return is Patrick Dorgu, finally back from suspension that kept him out of the past three domestic games following his red card against Ipswich.

Predicting the Manchester United line-up

Goalkeeper:Andre Onana. No surprises here. Love it or hate it, the Cameroon stopper is United’s first choice, although Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are both back in training.

Back three: Matthijs de Ligt is the one guaranteed start. Around him, we are predicting Noussair Mazraoui to line-up, and Harry Maguire.

Ayden Heaven is currently out with injury, while Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof may have to settle for places on the bench.

Wing-backs: Welcome back Patrick Dorgu! And on the right, we expect to see Diogo Dalot.

Midfield: United could look to keep it compact with a Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro pairing, a combative duo for a tricky away fixture.

Attacking midfield:Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee are two of the first names on the team sheet right now. That means Alejandro Garnacho could be back on the bench.

Striker: After ending his Manchester United goal drought, and his barren run for Denmark, Rasmus Hojlund can be expected to lead to line. Chido Obi may get a place on the bench.
