Alexander Isak celebrates with Viktor Gyokeres
Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres could both be playing for different teams next season
Swedish strikers will be the talk of this upcoming summer transfer window due to the reported interest in Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.
The international team-mates have emerged as two of the top centre-forwards in Europe and are perceived to have varying degrees of availability. It seems inevitable that Gyokeres will leave Lisbon before the start of next season after scoring approaching 90 goals for Sporting CP across two years.
Newcastle United, though, appear much more keen to keep ahold of their current talisman. However, there is reportedly the potential for a swap deal to materialise with Liverpool for Isak.
Isak swap deal 'options'
GIVEMESPORT claims Newcastle want Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott included in any Isak swap deal instead of Darwin Nunez. The North East club will reputedly reject any attempts for the Reds to use their number nine as a makeweight in an offer for the Swede.
Eddie Howe is said to be keen on Elliott and Jota, which opens up the possibility that the duo could come up in negotiations centred around Isak. However, it purportedly remains their intention to retain the services of their striker for next season rather than cash in this summer.
Gyokeres to Arsenal 'update'
The Athletic reports that Arsenal have an increasing interest in Viktor Gyokeres. The player is now said to be a more prominent candidate than previously in their plans to sign a striker during the summer.
They are a club credited with an interest in Isak, with manager Mikel Arteta reputedly a huge fan. However, their growing interest in his compatriot could leave the pathway to Isak clear for Liverpool to sign the Newcastle striker.
It is conceivable, then, that the Gunners end up signing Gyokeres rather than his international team-mate. In such a scenario, the Reds would have one less rival in the Isak race.
