Rangers are yet to discover what the future holds at Ibrox as they wait for the 49ers Enterprises to complete their takeover of the club.
Barry Ferguson has done a solid-enough job as interim manager, having guided the Gers through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
However, there have been strong suggestions that new owners would be keen on bringing their own managerial appointment ahead of a new era at Ibrox.

Ferguson ready for Rangers future
Although there are some suggestions that Ferguson may have done enough to earn the Rangers’ job permanently, having overseen only a handful of games, it may be too early to make such statements.
If the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh complete their takeover of the Light Blues, there will be an increased amount of money pumped into the Glasgow club.
MORE RANGERS STORIES
However, with the future still in doubt, it has been suggested by Keith Jackson that Ferguson is busy planning for what’s ahead in Glasgow already, just in case.
Writing in the Daily Record (31 March), Jackson said: “What’s more, given how thorough he is in the way he goes about his work, it stands to reason that Ferguson has already got a very clear idea with regard to what changes will be required over the summer to make this Rangers squad competitive in time for next season.
“The chances are he’ll most probably have gone to the bother of compiling his own list of transfer targets just in case the call does come through from Cavenagh, along with the offer of a longer-term contract.”

Rangers could take a risk on Ferguson
At this stage, if the 49ers were to appoint Ferguson on a permanent basis it would still very much be a risk given his lack of prior experience in a similar managerial position.
Team Win Rate
Clyde 38.3%
Kelty Hearts 65.7%
Alloa Athletic 27.3%
Rangers 66.7%
Ferguson’s managerial career.
Results-wise, things have been positive since the 47-year-old has been in charge but given it took a 93rd-minute winner to beat Dundee on Saturday (29 March), it suggests that there is still plenty of work to be done.
However, it can’t hurt for Ferguson to put plans into place and the boss has already been vocal about some of the business Rangers should do in the summer.
In fact, if the new owners come in and see a man who is well prepared for the challenge and aligned with the direction the club needs to head in, such research could earn him the chance to prove himself.
At this stage, Ferguson needs to continue to focus on steadying the ship at Ibrox and making victories a bit more comfortable as an indication of the direction the side is going in.
The 49ers will surely make a final decision upon their arrival in Glasgow meaning this is the time for Ferguson to make his case if he does indeed want the permanent job.
