Gunners considering Isak alternative

It is an open secret that Arsenal need to sign a goalscorer and centre-forward in the summer, and that there lack of one has derailed their title challenge this season.

And whilst their preferred target is Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, there is a growing acceptance that his likely price tag makes him unattainable.

That means alternatives must be considered and whilst Benjamin Seško of RB Leipzig, and Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting have often been mentioned in despatches a new name has now emerged.

22-year old Hugo Ekiteke who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs this season, and now Arsenal have been added to his list of admirers.

He has scored 19 goals this season, and recently grabbed a hat-trick for the France under-21 side in a match against England.

And at around ₤60 million, he is likely to be cheaper than some of the other options being considered.

Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
