Whitworth, 21, has been a key player for the Grecians this term between the sticks as they currently sit in 17th place in the table. He has made 43 appearances in all competitions, 38 of which have come in the league, and he has kept 15 clean sheets.
In this latest update regarding his situation by reporter Nixon on his Patreon, Gary Caldwell’s side are interested in reuniting with him in the next window. Crystal Palace have a big decision to make on what to do with him next later this year and are likely to weigh up his options.
Exeter City want Joe Whitworth back from Crystal Palace
Exeter City landed Whitworth last year to bolster their goalkeeping department. He was given the green light to leave Crystal Palace on a temporary basis to get some experience under his belt.
The ‘keeper has since made the number one spot his own with the Grecians and has a bright future ahead of him in the game. Nixon reported that Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town wanted him before he linked up with Caldwell’s side.

After signing him, Caldwell told their website at the time: “With the success of Vil (Sinisalo) last year, we felt like it was another good avenue to go down in loaning a top Premier League goalkeeper. Joe fits that profile – he was their Player of the Season last year in the under-21s and he’s got the experience of being in the first team too; starting two games which is fantastic at his young age.”

Whitworth started his career at AFC Wimbledon before switching to Crystal Palace and he has since progressed up through the academy ranks of the London outfit.
The Sutton-born man penned a contract extension in January last year which shows he is highly-rated by the Eagles.
Whitworth made his debut for the South London outfit in a Premier League clash against rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in March 2023. He has since played once more for Oliver Glasner’s side.
