Saturday’s Carabao Cup celebrations in Newcastle were truly a sight to behold, with the city uniting to soak in the glory of the team’s success.

Starting at St James’ Park, the festivities eventually ended on the Town Moor, with the entire squad on stage to be interviewed by local legends Ant and Dec.

And Alexander Isak’s interview from the pair was one that couldn’t be missed, as the Swedish star reflected on his game winning goal at Wembley, the open top bus parade, and even gave the crowd his best attempt at a Geordie accent!

“The biggest goal of my career!”

--------------------------------

First, Ant asked Isak just how much the second goal at Wembley, where Jacob Murphy headed the ball down for him to beat Caoimhin Kelleher in the Liverpool net with what would prove to be the decisive goal, meant to him.

Ant: “Alex, the Geordie crowd love you, we love you, your teammates love you. With that second goal, when it came down to you and you rifled it in, how did that feel?”

Isak: “It’s impossible to describe the feeling, I scored a goal a minute earlier that was called offside…that goal was probably the biggest goal of my career. Obviously to get the win in the end, it was amazing.”

On amazing bus parade scenes

----------------------------

After 70 years without a major domestic honour, no Newcastle fan dared miss out on Saturday’s festivities, with the highlight of the day being the entire squad and staff celebrate atop a bus, driving past tens of thousands of raucous fans.

Dec: “Today, going through the city on that open top bus, you could see how much it meant to everyone in the city. How did it make you feel on top of the bus?”

Isak: “I think it means the world to all of us, but it probably means more to see how much it means to the people, and we’re so happy to give the city, the fans, a trophy like this.”

And his best attempt at the Geordie accent

------------------------------------------

Whilst the most memorable moment from the on stage event is a tie between Bruno Guimaraes and Mark Gillespie’s own renditions of popular crowd chants, a close third is Alexander Isak’s strong attempt at his best Geordie accent.

Challenged by Ant to give it his best shot, like so many of the other fan favourites have done in the past, it’s fair to say that it’s yet another thing that Isak simply cannot disappoint with.

A simple “Areet wor’ kid!” to the delight of the 150,000 fans in attendance on the Town Moor has confirmed to many a Geordie just how truly special and devoted this striker is to Newcastle United.
