**Manchester City’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup could earn them up to $125m (£97m) in prize money.**
Both the Cityzens and Premier League rivals Chelsea will be involved in the tournament, having won the 2023 and 2021 editions of the Champions League, respectively.
FIFA have confirmed that a total of $525m (£407m) in participation fees will be handed out on a sliding scale.
The 12 European clubs involved are also expected to receive $35.19m (£27.3m) in appearance fees based on unspecified “sporting and commercial criteria”.
The rest of the money will be distributed according to each team’s performance during the competition itself. A total of $475m (£368m) will be given based on winning games and reaching different stages of the tournament. For example, three points in the group stage will earn a club $2m (£1.55m).

Pep Guardiola’s side have been drawn in a group with Moroccan side Wydad AC, UAE outfit Al Ain And Serie A club Juventus.
They will take on Wydad in their first fixture on June 18th at Lincoln Financial Field, before facing Al Ain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 23rd, with the game against Juve being hosted at the Camping World Stadium on June 26th.

The competition has been shrouded in controversy since it was first announced, with players unions complaining about additional fixtures in an already packed calendar.
However, FIFA regulations mean that the Premier League champions have no choice but to play a full-strength team.
