Daniel Farke has come under heavy scrutiny now that Leeds United have failed to win four of their last five games.

The West Yorkshire giants have fallen behind league leaders Sheffield United in the race for promotion, but Farke remains adamant that his side will be in the Premier League next term.

With just seven games remaining in the Championship season, the pressure is very much on Leeds who are now level on points with third-place Burnley.

The Clarets may fancy their chances of beating Farke’s men to a top-two spot as they have not lost in the second tier since 3 November.

Farke facing sack at Leeds United

On Sunday, a Leeds fan phoned TalkSPORT and suggested that Farke, whom he dubbed a “clown”, should be sacked and replaced by former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.

Alan Pardew dismissed the claims live on air, and said: “He is far from a clown, Daniel Farke, he has been promoted before.

“I do think that there is no chance that they’ll do anything in terms of changing the manager.”

Farke could be sacked if Leeds don’t win promotion

Pardew is correct in his claim that the Whites will not sack their boss with just seven Championship games remaining, especially while the Elland Road club still occupy an automatic promotion spot.

West Brom (H) 1-1 D

Portsmouth (A) 1-0 L

Millwall (H) 2-0 W

QPR (A) 2-2 D

Swansea (H) 2-2 D

Leeds have been on poor form

The former Newcastle manager is also right to point out that Farke still deserves respect for the fact that he has been promoted from the second tier before.

The German guided former club Norwich to the Championship title in both 2019 and 2021 and should be remembered as one of the best second-tier managers in modern times.

However, Leeds supporters were rightfully upset last season when Farke failed to steer the Whites back to the Premier League, instead failing to land an automatic promotion spot before losing in the playoff final.

If the 48-year-old is unable to guide the star-studded Elland Road side to promotion this time around, then his tenure in the dugout in West Yorkshire could deservedly come under serious threat.
