Chelsea‘have no problem’ paying clause to snatch player from Premier League rivals

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic over the past few days and Chelsea have also emerged as a potential suitor.

TuttoSport have reported on the situation of the Serbian today and they state that the goalkeeper has a release clause of €20m in his current contract and it will be valid till the end of July. That was only found out about recently by the media, and has come as some of a surprise.

The report states that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is looking for a new goalkeeper because he is not convinced by either Robert Sanchez or Filip Jorgensen. As a result, the Italian has asked the Blues management to sign a replacement in the summer.

Maresca watches Serie A rather keenly and has been following Milinkovic-Savic, specifically watching Torino games because of his impressive showings this season.

The feeling is that Chelsea will ‘have no problem’ in triggering Milinkovic-Savic’s release clause, but they will face competition from Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola has also asked for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

The newspaper states that interest in the 28-year-old will definitely increase because of his release clause and performances for the Granata.

Chelsea can pay that clause and snatch Milinkovic-Savic away from Manchester City.
