Man Utd will prioritise the addition of a striker in the summer transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano says he fully expects Hugo Ekitike to play in the Premier League next season amid links with a move to Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim has prioritised the addition of a striker in the summer transfer window, with the 22-year-old one of those who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. Ekitike has 19 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, which has led to plenty of interest in his signature.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have also been linked with a move for the French striker, though it is unclear at this stage which club is leading the race to sign him at the end of the season. United's hopes of signing Ekitike could be dictated by whether or not they manage to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, which would significantly boost their finances and make them a more appealing prospect to join.
Fabrizio Romano 'expects' Premier League move
Writing in his latest newsletter for GIVEMESPORT, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed Hugo Ekitike is likely to be on the move this summer and that the Premier League is his most likely destination.
"I expect Ekitike to play in the Premier League next season," he said. "I said that 10 days ago and keep insisting as this is the feeling in the industry. There are contacts already but from several clubs, too early to indicate a favourite."
Another named linked with a move to United this summer is Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede worked closely with Ruben Amorim in Portugal, though he is expected to cost too much for an Old Trafford reunion this summer.
Arsenal are the latest side linked with a move for Gyokeres and Romano also issued an update on his future: "Gyokeres is one of the names on Arsenal's list with (Alexander) Isak (who remains the dream target, but Newcastle insist on keeping him) and (Benjamin) Sesko, who costs a similar amount of money. No talks have started yet, but (Andrea) Berta appreciates Gyokeres since he was at Atletico as director."
A new name linked with United
United have also been linked with a move for Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca ahead of the summer window. Tuttomercato say West Ham and Napoli are both also interested in the 24-year-old, who would cost roughly €35million this summer. Luccas stands at a towering 6ft 7in and has 10 goals in 29 Serie A games for Udinese this campaign. He also has two goals in three Coppa Italia games.
Udinese teammate Maduka Okoye lavished praise on him earlier this season, branding the player as a “top-level striker” and “very special player”. He was also tipped him to be Italy’s future number nine during an interview on the Italian Football Podcast back in September. The player’s €35m price tag would certainly be more affordable for United, who have been linked with the likes of Viktor Gyökeres and Victor Osimhen but both strikers will cost north of £60m.
