As part of his official visit to Israel, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a significant meeting on Sunday, March 30, 2025, with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. The meeting reaffirmed Greece’s longstanding respect for the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its pivotal mission in the Holy Land.
Held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, the encounter provided an opportunity for a fruitful exchange of views regarding the vital role of the Patriarchate in defending the rights of Christians in the region and promoting peaceful coexistence among all religious communities.
Discussions also highlighted the broader spiritual, historical, and cultural importance of the Orthodox Christian presence in the Holy Places, as well as the deep-rooted ties between Greece and the Patriarchate.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis reiterated Greece’s unwavering support for the mission of the Patriarchate and acknowledged its contribution to interfaith dialogue and the preservation of Christian heritage in the Middle East.
