Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton set for big change away from Newcastle United

Life at Newcastle United is all rosy for the club's two Brazilian internationals - but Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are facing uncertainty back home after the Brazilian Football Confederation sacked national team head coach Dorival Junior.

The latest international break saw Brazil beat Colombia courtesy of a 99th-minute Vinicius Jr goal, before a humbling 4-1 thrashing at the hands of rivals Argentina saw the axe fall. The results leave the Selecao fourth in their qualifying table, with four games remaining.

Dorival, 62, departs the role with seven wins, seven draws and just two defeats to his name but with Brazil not yet guaranteed a place at next year's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, a change in the dugout was required.

The bookmakers' favourite for the job is Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who has managed Flamengo, Benfica, Sporting Club and Fenerbahce. Jesus was also once tentatively linked to the Newcastle job.

Meanwhile, rumours continue to swirl over Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti taking a stab at the national team gig. "I have great affection for the Brazil national team, their players and their fans, but I have a contract with Real Madrid," the Italian admitted this week.

[After finally lifting silverware at club level](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gallery/see-moment-newcastle-united-stars-31310014), Bruno is already eyeing similar success on the international stage. Brazil still have work to do to ensure they qualify for the World Cup but Newcastle's captain has already set his country the target of winning the whole thing in little over a year.

"It's something I've been dreaming of every night since I arrived, the biggest goal is the World Cup,” Bruno said earlier this month on international duty. “There's a lot missing, but I think about it every night.

"I hope we get this effect. I was little in 2002, I went to the party when the national team arrived. We go through a lot in terms of country, a title would be something wonderful for our population.”

Bruno and Joelinton enjoyed themselves at Saturday's trophy parade celebratiom, with the former [taking centre stage at the Town Moor celebrations with some x-rated chanting](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bruno-guimaraes-x-rated-sunderland-31310977) that fans in attendance loved.
