United Hold‘Interest’In£30M Rated Striker Who Was Subbed By His Manager For Taking A Penalty Earlier This Season

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca, according to reports in the Italian media.

TMW editor Niccolo Ceccarini claims that the 24-year-old has “interest” from the likes of the Red Devils, West Ham and Napoli.

Lucca has been in good form this season, having scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances for an Udinese side who sit mid-table.

It is believed that he could be sold for around €35m (£30m) which would make him an economical option for Ruben Amorim’s side, who are not expected to have a sizeable transfer budget this summer.

What do fans need to know about Lucca?

The Italian’s most notable characteristic is his height. He is 6ft 7, which means he towers over nearly every defender he comes across.

However, Lucca’s other claim to fame is an incident that occurred earlier this season. The forward took penalty duties off the assigned taker Florian Thauvin in the game against Lecce last month.

He scored the spot-kick but he was substituted by his manager Kosta Runjaic immediately afterwards in the first half. Speaking about the decision after Lucca’s goal proved decisive in the 1-0 win, Runjaic said:

“I made this choice because I don’t like those who don’t respect the rules, so I had to take measures. However, this will all be solved in training and we will focus on our next match.”

Are United interested in any other strikers?

Supporters may not be that enthused by reports linking the club with the likes of Lucca, but he isn’t the only forward on the team’s radar.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ektike, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are also known to be players of interest, while Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic has also been mentioned as a potential target over the past week.
