As the NFL continues to investigate Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, his future in the NFL remains incredibly unclear. But at least for the time being, the Ravens organization is giving Tucker the benefit of the doubt as he faces incredibly disturbing allegations.
Sixteen massage therapists from numerous spas in the Baltimore area have accused Tucker of sexual misconduct, which ultimately prompted the NFL to look into the matter.
Currently, the NFL is in the process of speaking with these massage therapists accusing Tucker, hoping to get to the bottom of the matter to ultimately make a decision on Tucker’s future in the NFL.
Until that ruling comes, it seems like the Ravens are standing with Tucker, who remains on the roster and seemingly will continue to do so until we get a ruling from the league.
During a conversation with local reporters, Ravens president Sashi Brown detailed how the organization is still trying to gain “an actual understanding” on the matter.
“From our standpoint, I think we want to make sure that we have a great understanding of the facts, an actual understanding of the facts, hear both sides of the situation, and that we allow the investigation to properly be conducted and concluded, and make decisions based on the full information,” Brown told Baltimore-area reporters at the annual league meeting, transcribed by ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “We would love for this to happen a lot faster than it does.
“So, from our standpoint, we need to allow the investigation to conclude. The NFL understands the urgency that surrounds these types of situations and allegations, and so we need to allow them time. I don’t think they’re going to take as long as possible, but we certainly know that they’re working prudently and to try to get to what is a number of people who need to provide evidence before they come back to us. And they have been making progress, we know that.”
We have certainly seen teams act more drastically toward players accused of these kinds of allegations in the past. Most notably, the Buffalo Bills parted ways with punter Matt Araiza after he was accused of sexual assault, allegations that were ultimately proven to be false.
Tucker has obviously been such a huge piece of the Ravens organization over the years. So perhaps it makes sense that the Ravens are holding off on parting ways with him.
Regardless, if the allegations are proven to be true, it may certainly be a bad look for the Ravens organization for not acting sooner on this matter.
