Manchester United’s academy is currently seeing a golden generation which has only been further boosted by Ineos’ proactiveness.
An already exciting group consisting of the likes of Bendito Mantato, Amir Ibragimov, and Shea Lacey, to name a few, has been boosted by the presence of Chido Obi, Samuel Lusale, and more.
So, for the Man Utd U18s head coach Adam Lawrence to point out one name and pay him the ultimate compliment of being “horrible play against”, that wonderkid must indeed be special.
That is the honour given to one Man Utd young superstar who has a “healthy arrogance” to his game. He’s destined for the top.

Adam Lawrence raves about Man Utd youngster
The Man Utd U18s won three trophies last season and Adam Lawrence has gained a lot of plaudits for his team’s attacking and dominating style of play.
His focus on improving players first and foremost has automatically resulted in the team improving with it as the U18s are locked in a title race with Man City in the league.
Another deep run in the FA Cup has been managed by Chido Obi scoring a ridiculous seven goals in three games, resulting in a senior debut.
Speaking to The Athletic, Lawrence had some high words for praise for Obi.

He said: “He’s [Chido Obi] horrible to play against. He’s got that lovely way about him where he backs himself, that healthy arrogance where he’s like, ‘I want to play at the top, get better and improve’. He’s definitely brought that to the group.”
Chido Obi has progressed quicker than expected
A player with Chido Obi’s quality and goalscoring record was never going to be just an academy player, regardless of his age.
Still, goals never directly translate to senior football, as United have seen in the case of Joe Hugill or Charlie McNeil just recently.
However, Chido Obi has put those worries to rest by showing a remarkably rounded game for his age whenever he’s received an opportunity with the first-team.
He has effectively skipped U21 football altogether and can be expected to make a proper dent in the senior team next season when he’ll have a full pre-season with the senior squad.
Man Utd have a true gem on their hands and he’s living up to the vast expectations of him.
