Man City given Erling Haaland injury verdict as Arsenal and Chelsea reality set

Chelsea's Champions League rivals Manchester City have been handed an injury worry in their Premier League run-in as Erling Haaland was forced off during their FA Cup win over Bournemouth.

The Norwegian missed a penalty and two good chances in the first-half but was on hand to steer home the equaliser in the second-half during their quarter-final triumph. However, his involvement was cut short after a nasty-looking tangle with Cherries captain Lewis Cook.

Haaland careered into the advertising hoardings off the pitch and looked in discomfort as he looked to continue before he was eventually replaced by the eventual match-winner Omar Marmoush.

City sit one point outside of the Champions League places with Chelsea occupying the final place in the table. Pep Guardiola faces an anxious wait over his top goalscorer with a possible ankle injury as he was seen leaving the South Coast with a protective boot on.

X account Physio Scout has discussed the possibilities surrounding his issues which could see him out for up to 10 weeks, as a worst-case scenario. He wrote: "From the limited video, it LOOKS like there was forced eversion (foot twists out) after contact from the outside of the lower leg.

"This brings concern for a medial/high ankle sprain, can also be known as a syndesmosis injury. He struggled to put weight on his left leg after the challenge, and was seen on crutches/moon-boot after the game. Scans will need to clear a fracture too.

"There is chance it's only an axial ankle injury (as opposed to forced eversion) - which would mean less than a week or two's recovery. However, crutches usage would suggest otherwise."

Pep Guardiola added to the worry as he failed to provide a clear update. Speaking to ITV, he said: "I don’t know yet, we will have to see."
