Talks underway: Liverpool make progress in efforts to sign Premier League “mad man”

Liverpool are thought to have opened talks with the representatives of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, according to a new transfer claim.

It is no secret that the 21-year-old has emerged as one of the Reds’ leading left-back options in recent months, following a strong season for the Cherries that has helped them gain many admirers.

While Andy Robertson remains a good option for Liverpool moving forward, he has started to arguably look past his absolute best in recent months, so they do now need to consider replacements for him.

Reds supporters will likely be split when it comes to who they would like to see come in at left-back, with the likes of Jorrel Hato and Antonee Robinson also mentioned as options to come in during the summer transfer window.

According to a new report from Caught Offside, “talks have already begun” between Liverpool and Kerkez’s representatives, suggesting that progress is being made regarding a move to Anfield.

Is Kerkez heading to Liverpool this summer?

At this point, it would be a surprise if Kerkez wasn’t the man to come in and strengthen the Reds’ left-back options ahead of next season, and it’s easy to see why he is such a prominent target.

The Hungarian is a young player with so much energy and quality, with his peak still years away, with Bournemouth teammate Marcus Tavernier once saying of him:

“He’s a mad man! He’s great, I love that guy to pieces. He brings a lot of energy to the team when it’s quiet and stuff. He has come into the team and been great. I’m just hoping he can continue his form and continue playing well.”

This season, Kerkez has played a key role in Bournemouth being one of the Premier League’s surprise packages, starting all 29 matches in the competition, registering five assists and also scoring twice.

For that reason, he has shown that he can consistently perform in arguably the biggest league in the world, despite still being such a young player, and he possesses a level of fight and passion that could immediately endear him to Liverpool supporters.
